Cafe

The café is run by a team of volunteers who turn the rescued food into delicious, nutritious meals that are available to all diners on a Pay-As-You-Feel basis – your choice is to donate whatever value you feel your food is worth and this can be in the form of money or time.

Week in, week out, every Saturday there’s a three-course lunch served with vegetarian options. The menu changes every time, as our chefs have the added challenge of not knowing what key ingredients will be available to cook with until we take delivery from our suppliers. Tasty meals vary from vegetarian options to Moroccan chicken; cottage pie and pheasant casserole!

Community

Fridge

In non-virus times, the fridge is open every day and enables choices throughout the week. Chilled foods, dairy products, salads and sandwiches, vegetables and fruit. The Community Fridge enables us to reach more people in need and saves even more food from landfill. Through generous funding from Nottingham Building Society, via their Grants for Good Causes, the fridge is now up and running next to the Bunker. You can help yourself to whatever is on offer. It’s a little pop luck but full of pleasant surprises! PAY AS YOU FEEL.

The passageway has also been brought to life by stunning street art painted by local artist Nathan Murdock: “It’s wonderful to find that food which could so easily be binned is being put to great use. We’re so pleased to have created the artwork, but it was an emotional project, seeing and hearing first-hand the impact Second Helpings has on people’s lives.”
